The initial crash happened at 8:04 a.m. on Highway 21 southbound at Jeffers Road when Georgia State Patrol says the trailer of a tractor-trailer trying to turn right hit a standing power pole. The impact caused the pole to shift and break about 6 feet high.
The top section of the pole and metal guide wire ended up in the southbound roadway of Highway 21, and the guide wire crossed the northbound roadway at various heights, according to GSP.

Vehicles traveling southbound behind the initial incident hit the downed pole section and guide wire. GSP said vehicles traveling northbound also hit the downed guide wire.
A motorist was outside of his vehicle looking at the damage to his vehicle when GSP said a northbound vehicle hit the guide wire and caused the downed pole section and guide wire to rapidly hit the motorist outside of his vehicle.
The motorist was taken by EMS for medical treatment. No other injuries were reported, according to GSP.
GSP said all vehicles involved sustained minor damage, including a law enforcement vehicle.
This incident caused traffic delays Thursday morning. The northbound roadway reopened at 8:46 a.m. and the southbound roadway reopened at 8:53 a.m.
