Homebuilder breaks ground on charity home in Effingham
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A new home in Effingham County will soon help fund the fight against childhood cancer.
Lawrence Alexander Homes will break ground on its second “Build for CURE” home Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at 28 Grove Hollow Road in Rincon. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to CURE Childhood Cancer, a Georgia nonprofit focused on research and family support.
“Every child deserves the chance to build a promising future,” said owner Alex Long. “By building this home, we hope to provide a beautiful space for a family while raising significant funds for children battling cancer.”
CURE Childhood Cancer has invested more than $45 million in research since its founding in 1975.
“Their first Build for CURE home raised $250,000 for children fighting cancer and their families,” said Jenny Wilkins, development director of events for CURE Childhood Cancer. “We’re grateful for their ongoing commitment and hopeful this partnership continues to grow.”
To increase the donation, the builder is partnering with local businesses and trades that are contributing discounted or donated materials and labor throughout construction.
