Groves students walk out to protest ICE actions, current administration
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Students at Groves High School have walked out of class today, February 10, 2026, in protest of ICE actions across the country.
According to a media release from the organizers, the protest has been called “to condemn the violence against protesters and the Trump administration’s calling up of the ICE for a presence in Savannah, Georgia, and Speaking Out for Rene Nicole Good, and many more.”
This rally was organized by students at Groves High. WTOC reached out to SCCPSS for a statement on this new rally, and SCCPSS officials directed us to their previous statement regarding the ICE walkouts which were held last week:
We support students exercising their First Amendments Rights.
Additionally, we are committed to the safety of our students and staff and to maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment.
We have been notified that some high school students may want to express their right to peacefully assemble to bring awareness to some national issues.
While this type of activity is not a District sanctioned or sponsored event, we will work with students to offer guidance in the spirit of safety and to minimize disruption to the greatest extent possible.
