Father of hit-and-run victim offering $5K reward for information about Ogeechee Road crash
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Tom Brady’s son, Stuart, was crossing Ogeechee Road when someone hit him and took off without helping or calling for help.
The crash happened near the intersection of Ogeechee Road and Quacco Road at around 1 a.m. on Monday, September 29.
There’s only one 511GA camera in the area, and it’s aimed directly at the intersection.
Now, Tom has lost his only son, and Stuart’s child will grow up without him.
Tom is asking for the public’s help to find out more about what happened. He is offering $5,000 of his own money if it leads to the arrest of the person who left his son dying on the busy roadway.
“They did not even stop to try to help him or anything, to see if he was alive. They just kept going,” he said. “He said he had a ride, but I don’t know what happened to the ride; but apparently, his phone had died.”
After the initial accident, a different vehicle ran over Stuart who was lying in the roadway.
The Georgia State Patrol’s report stated that he was not in a designated crossing area; however, Tom wished the driver had at least stopped to call for law enforcement.
Instead, law enforcement showed up at his front door, which is about a quarter-mile from the crash scene, at around 4 a.m. to give him the unfortunate news.
“All we can do is pray to God, help us, family, get through this,” he said. “With God’s helping and blessings, it’ll get this family through this. It’s tragic and very devastating.”
