SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger stopped by WTOC for a one-on-one exclusive interview with WTOC’s Dawn Baker.

During our sit down interview, WTOC asked him about the current national fight over redistricting, the work his office is doing to oversee Georgia’s elections and his potential political plans for 2026.

Raffensperger on current national fight over redistricting

All over the country, state Republicans and Democrats are battling over new Congressional maps as redistricting heats up.

“Big news topic now: the idea of gerrymandering. Lots of publicity around what’s going on in Texas- democrats leaving the state in hopes of stopping the vote when it comes to redistricting. What do you think about that? And it seems like we’re always talking about redistricting but we don’t do it until after a census,” started WTOC’s Dawn Baker.

“Yes it’s been gerrymandered, but on the other side too. Probably both parties are trying to use their advantage. And that’s the way the system works at times. I think Georgia really struck the right balance. I think if you look at what we do and we’ve just also done that in elections,” answered Raffensperger.

Raffensperger’s potential 2026 political plans

“Are you planning to run for governor or Senate? And some think that you know with all that has happened that maybe the base of the republican party isn’t fully in support of you. What do you think about that. What do you say to that,” inquired Dawn Baker.

“Well all options are on the table. But my strong reelection in 2022 shows that there’s a lot of people that are looking for someone that is gonna give them- shoot them the truth all the time no matter what. Someone that they can trust and I think honesty. So I think that integrity, honesty and speaking truthfully to the people. I think that’s what they are looking for,” responded Raffensperger.

Raffensperger on multimillion dollar Ponzi scheme

“Just about everyone’s talking about First Liberty Building and Loan being accused of running a multimillion dollar Ponzi scheme. The firm is a large donor to many republicans in Georgia,” said Dawn Baker.

“$140 million. They donated to my campaign long before any of the wrongdoing their accused of, but I immediately returned all of their gave my campaign. I am also asking all of the republican candidates to do the same. Sad to think about all of the senior citizens who invested thir life savings or the majority of it with First Liberty. My office launched an independent investigation back in June to help get to the bottom of what’s happening,” stated Raffensperger.

Raffensperger also bragged about the many resources his offices provides for small businesses.

When asked if he plans to for governor or Senate- he told us he isn’t ruling anything out at this time.
