ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Georgia’s favorite home-grown fast food restaurant is set to open its first permanent locations in the United Kingdom and Singapore later this year.

Chick-fil-A said one location will open in Leeds, which is in the middle of the U.K., this fall. Meanwhile, the Singapore location will open later this year.

The company said it wants to open five restaurants in the U.K. in two years. It also plans to invest more than $100 million in the U.K. and about $75 million in Singapore over the next ten years.

“Expanding in both Europe and Asia is a meaningful milestone for Chick-fil-A,” Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew T. Cathy said. “The investments we’re making in the U.K. and Singapore not only present opportunities for our business, but are also a chance for us to bring what makes Chick-fil-A special to new places — great food and remarkable hospitality, our unique franchise model and the positive impact we have in communities.”

Led by local owner-operators, the two locations will add about 70 to 120 new jobs in their communities. Chick-fil-A said it will also donate $25,000 for each restaurant to local nonprofits.

The effort isn’t Chick-fil-A’s first international project. Chick-fil-A restaurants currently stand in Canada and Puerto Rico, and two opened in Northern Ireland earlier this year.

The Singapore location will be Chick-fil-A’s first business in Asia.
