BLUFFTON, S.C. (WTOC) - The Bluffton Police Department needs your help in locating the memorial of murdered football star DJ Fields.

Police posted on Facebook Thursday to share that the memorial for Fields, which stood at the intersection of Bluffton Parkway and Flat Creek Drive, is now missing.

“We are heartbroken to share that it is missing, and we are asking for your help in bringing it back,” the department said in a post.

If you have any information that can help us locate and return DJ’s memorial, the police ask that you contact Captain Karafa at ckarafa@townofbluffton.com or call him at (843) 706-4564.

“Even the smallest detail could make a difference. Let’s come together as a community to make this right.”

Fields was a student and football player at Bluffton High School when he was shot in his car in March of 2021.

In the investigation, police determined it was a case of mistaken identity as the shooters believed DJ’s car belonged to their intended victim.

To date, three individuals have been convicted and sentenced in the case.
