Art, Culture and Community Take Center Stage at Savannah Black Art Expo This Saturday

by Shakuria Smith

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The 4th Annual Savannah Black Art Expo returns Saturday, Feb. 21, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center, 201 Montgomery Street, bringing artists, performers and families together for a free, all-ages afternoon of culture and creativity.

Guests can shop from local Black artists, enjoy live performances and take part in hip-hop and collage workshops. Organizers say the Expo gives artists space to showcase their work, grow their businesses and connect with the community. Attendees can also explore local cultural history and meet area organizations.

Launched in 2023 and hosted by the City of Savannah’s Cultural Resources Department, the Expo continues to grow while showcasing the depth of talent within Savannah’s Black arts community.

Accessibility resources will be available, including Braille and large-print materials, tactile maps and an accessibility liaison, along with an unloading area and three designated accessible parking spaces at the Montgomery Street entrance.

Those needing accommodations are encouraged to call 912-651-6783 in advance.

Organizers say the event remains a celebration of art, culture and community in the heart of downtown Savannah.
