SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Hundreds came out Saturday to Savannah’s City Hall to protest ICE and President Trump.

“I’m here because our constitutional protections are quickly being eroded by a criminal president who wants to pull attention away from what’s in the Epstein files. And these ICE agents in the streets, they’re lawless and they must be stopped,” said Randy Zurcher, a Democrat candidate for Georgia’s 1st Congressional District.

“For anyone who feels helpless, afraid or just angry, you know this is the way to let it out is exercise your First Amendment rights. I’m certainly inspired and heartened by it. There’s definitely a community in the Savannah area that cares about this country and the way it’s going and we’re trying to do something about it,” said Zurcher.

“I’m very disturbed by the fact that the Trump Administration is turning this country into a fascist nation and he’s also enriching himself and his by billions of dollars using the power of the presidency, using powers that he doesn’t not legally possess,” said another protestor.

“We’ve had this military thrown onto us that is disrupting our peace of mind so we can’t pay attention to what we really need to do as active citizens and help our neighbors,” said a woman holding a sign off Bay Street.

The protest came after ICE agents shot and killed Alex Pretti, 37, in Minneapolis. Those in attendance said they wanted to make their voices heard about that incident.
