SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools (SCCPSS), The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire, and the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team will officially launch the 2025-2026 Positive Peer Influencer program.

The Positive Peer Influencer program trains local high school students to serve as mentors for local middle school students, encouraging them to make healthy choices.

According to a media advisory detailing the event, the program “will unite student leaders from various Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools and will feature interactive student-led sessions, student spotlights and inspiring remarks from staff at The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire.”

The Positive Peer Influencer program, which is now in its third year, is currently experiencing record participation from student leaders across various SCCPSS schools, the advisory states.

During the 2025-2026 school year, there will be 250 trained Positive Peer Influencers from nine high schools working with students at 11 middle schools throughout Chatham County.

These numbers are up from 2024, when 140 students were trained to serve as mentors for eight different middle schools.
