100 Black Men of Savannah celebrates 30 years of empowering youth

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The 100 Black Men of Savannah will celebrate three decades of mentorship and community service during its 30th Annual Grand Gala.

The black-tie event will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Georgia State Railroad Museum in downtown Savannah.

This year’s theme, “All Aboard: 30 Years of Building Youth,” recognizes the organization’s work in mentoring, education, leadership development, financial literacy, health and wellness, and community service.

Guests will help honor the organization’s history, recognize community leaders and supporters, and celebrate students who have participated in the chapter’s mentoring and educational programs.

“For 30 years, 100 Black Men of Savannah has remained committed to providing our youth with positive role models, meaningful opportunities, and the tools they need to reach their full potential,” chapter President Harold Julius A. Oglesby said.

Oglesby said the gala will also recognize the mentors, families, educators, community partners and supporters who have helped the organization build its legacy of service.

Proceeds will benefit the chapter’s mentoring, educational enrichment, financial literacy, leadership development, health and wellness, and scholarship programs.

Community members, businesses, civic organizations and corporate partners are invited to attend.
