Talmadge Bridge temporarily experienced lane closures Wednesday evening due to citizen in distress

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - All southbound traffic on the Talmadge Memorial Bridge was temporarily shut down Wednesday evening as first responders worked to assist a citizen in distress. At around 5:30 p.m. police announced lanes reopened, but said drivers can expect delays.

Savannah police confirmed someone jumped from the Talmadge Bridge Wednesday evening.

What to Do

Do not leave the person alone
Remove any firearms, alcohol, drugs, or sharp objects that could be used in a suicide attempt

Take the person to an emergency room, or seek help from a medical or mental health professional
