Savannah youth take center stage in free play about healing and hope

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A free stage play coming to Savannah will explore the experiences and emotions that can shape the choices young people make.
The City of Savannah’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement and its youth theater initiative, Young Artists of Savannah United, will present “These Three Words” on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m.
The performance will take place at the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center, 201 Montgomery St. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to reserve seats in advance by clicking here.
Written by Winsphere Jones, the original play follows a group of young people participating in a theater program led by instructor Fiona Brooks. Through acting exercises and shared experiences, the students begin to confront struggles that have shaped their lives.
The story also follows Sylvia Moore as she works to rebuild her relationship with her estranged daughter, Joyful. The production explores themes of honesty, trust, accountability and forgiveness.
Young Artists of Savannah United is an initiative of the city’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement that uses performing arts and mentorship to support young people. The city says the play is part of the program’s commitment to youth empowerment and violence prevention.
