Savannah State appoints Dr. Bradley Gardner, bringing leadership and research expertise to Center for Professional Excellence

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah State University has named Dr. Bradley S. Gardner as the new program director for the Center for Professional Excellence.
In his new role, Gardner will lead efforts to support faculty and staff through professional development opportunities, mentorship programs and the sharing of best practices across campus.
Gardner joins Savannah State as a tenured associate professor of political science and international affairs after serving as assistant dean and department chair at Bethune-Cookman University. University leaders say his background in academic leadership, faculty development and civic engagement makes him a strong fit to lead the Center for Professional Excellence.
Gardner is an accomplished researcher whose work focuses on community policing, governance and justice systems in the Caribbean. He previously held leadership roles at Bethune-Cookman University, Florida A&M University and Kennesaw State University, and also served in the Florida Senate.
Gardner said he is honored to join Savannah State during what he described as a transformative period for the university and looks forward to contributing to its continued success.
A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Gardner earned a doctorate in International Conflict Management from Kennesaw State University. He also holds a master’s degree in International Relations from Hult International Business School in London and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Central Florida.
University officials say Gardner’s appointment reflects Savannah State’s ongoing commitment to supporting faculty excellence and fostering professional growth across campus.
