Savannah marks 5th Annual 912 Day with family reunion event

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The community gathered at Forsyth Park on Saturday afternoon to celebrate 912 Day with a family reunion event.

September 12th, also known as 912 Day, marked its fifth anniversary this year after Mayor Van Johnson proclaimed the day as Savannah Day.

The event gave people a chance to highlight local business and celebrate the city’s pride. It also offered an opportunity to network and make new connections in Savannah.

The celebration included games, food and multiple poets who recognized the city.

Savannah District Two Alderman Detric Leggett spoke about the event.

“How we all come out, how we show the uniqueness about what Savannah is, and it’s just so fitting that in the month of September on the 12th day we can come out as a community and have a family reunion, regardless of who you are, where you come from, you represent 912 and our area code means a lot to us,” Leggett said.

Local officials are determined to make each year bigger and better.
