Savannah family honors loved one on his Heavenly 26th birthday

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Savannah family is remembering their loved one with a celebration of life, honoring his heavenly birthday.

As his family continues to wait for justice in the case, they came together to honor what would have been his 26th birthday.

Wanya Pringle was shot and killed in 2023 inside the Pines Apartment Complex in Garden City, according to police, at just 23 years old.

Family and friends gathered Saturday afternoon for a cookout filled with music, memories, and shared stories.

Many wore T-shirts featuring Pringle’s photo and his well-known catchphrase, “You betta scream that,” as a way to keep his spirit alive and ensure he is never forgotten.

Pringle’s mother, Makara Pringle, said the celebration is her way of coping with the loss of her only child.

“We miss him, he was taken from us too soon… The best way I know how to celebrate my son because he was my best friend, he was my everything,” she said. “And I don’t have that… I will never have that kind of love ever again.”

Makara described their bond as inseparable and said honoring her son’s life helps her navigate the grief.

His case remains one the family—and community—continues to follow as they seek answers and accountability.
