Man arrested after allegedly throwing machete at dog walker in Chatham County

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) [UPDATE 9/9 3:00 P.M.] - Chatham County police arrested a man after he allegedly threw a machete at a person walking their dog.

James Robert Carpenter, 66, was arrested by officers after they responded to the scene on Bonaventure Road around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim told police he had been walking his dog on commercial property, when a man threatened to kill him and his dog before throwing a beer can and machete.

The machete landed in the road, and nobody was injured according to the Chatham County Police Department.

Carpenter was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault and felony terroristic threats and acts.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Chatham County Police responded to an incident involving a machete, Tuesday night, along Downing Street and Bonaventure Road.

CCPD says a man was walking his dog when someone charged at him and threw a machete. No injuries were reported.

Officers arrested one man at the scene for aggravated assault.
