Lowcountry cooling shelter opens due to extreme temperatures
BEAUFORT, SC. (WTOC) - The St. Peter’s Catholic Church Outreach Center located on Lady’s Island in Beaufort opened their Outreach Center this week as a cooling shelter due to the extreme temperatures.
They said they are working in conjunction with the United Way of Beaufort and Showers of Dignity.
The shelter will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30th to Friday, August 1st.
They will have air conditioning and light refreshments available at the cooling shelter.
They will also have showers available.
Becky Francis Dignity Project’s Showers of Dignity trailer will be on-site from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
