Inmate dies in Effingham County detention center

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - An inmate has died while in custody at the Effingham County detention center.
Jason McClain, 44, of Guyton was found unresponsive in his cell Tuesday afternoon, according to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Lifesaving measures were attempted by first responders, but McClain was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The death is being investigated by the Region 6 UOF Task Force.
McClain had been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of knife during felony and was serving a 20 year sentence.
