SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah is kicking off the last week of February with St. Patrick’s Day preparations. One of the biggest pre-celebration activities is the election of the Grand Marshal for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. This year’s Grand Marshal is Martin Hogan.

Faith is a central part of the St. Patrick's Day celebration for so many Irish Catholics in Savannah.
And each year, the parade grand marshal selects someone among his aides to consult with about that faith.

Savannah has numerous festivities during the week of St. Patrick’s Day, leading up to the parade on Mar. 17. Below are some of the celebrations and tips for visiting the Hostess City during the celebrations.

The investiture for Hogan as this year’s Grand Marshal is scheduled to occur next Sunday, Mar. 1 at 2:45 p.m. The event is set to take place in the Regina Coeli Hall located below the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Savannah. This is public event.
