From classroom to career: Gulfstream expands workforce pipeline with more than 60 new apprentices

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - More than 60 recent high school graduates are taking the first steps in their careers through Gulfstream’s apprenticeship program.
The company welcomed its newest class of apprentices to the Savannah Technical Training Center, bringing together graduates from 20 schools across eight counties in Georgia and South Carolina.
The program is designed to help fill high-demand jobs while building a pipeline of skilled workers for the aviation industry.
Apprentices begin with classroom instruction and hands-on lab training before moving into specialized positions throughout the company, including aircraft manufacturing and technician roles.
Gulfstream says it has also expanded the program with new apprenticeship tracks in aircraft maintenance and nondestructive testing.
“This career path for people, I think is so significant,” said Gulfstream Vice President of Human Resources Mark Burns. “To enter into aviation, and to enter right into Gulfstream, which I believe is the pinnacle of business aviation. What an incredible opportunity, and I want to see those numbers continue to grow.”
Company leaders say the apprenticeship program has also proven to be a strong retention tool. Gulfstream reports about 90% of apprentices who advance through the program remain employed with the company.
Officials say the initiative continues to create opportunities for local students while helping meet the growing workforce needs of the aviation industry.
