Coastal Carolina Hospital experiences power outage Saturday

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (WTOC) - A Lowcountry hospital experienced a temporary loss of power Saturday morning.

Novant Health Coastal Carolina Medical Center lost power for a short period of time. A spokesperson with Novant Health tells WTOC that “all lifesaving and emergency equipment have battery back-up components, so the facility remained safe and operational.”

Hardeeville Fire says when firefighters arrived and entered the hospital, they could smell smoke, but after searching throughout the hospital, did not see a fire.

Novant Health says power has been restored to the hospital, and they are still accepting patients, and all departments are functioning as usual.

No word on yet on what caused the power outage.
