Burt Jones campaigns in Pooler ahead of GOP gubernatorial runoff

POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Burt Jones campaigned in the coastal empire this week, holding a meet and greet in Pooler.

Jones faces billionaire businessman Rick Jackson in the runoff after one of the most expensive primaries in Georgia state history. The current lieutenant governor said he has an advantage after receiving the most votes on May 19.

He said he feels confident that supporters of other candidates who didn’t make the runoff will choose him as the Republican nominee.

“Policy wise, there’s not a whole lot of difference, I mean we’re running in a Republican primary,” Jones said. “People just have to decide who is the one who can actually follow through with the promises they make and I have a record of doing that.”

Jones also has President Trump’s endorsement. Since the runoff was announced, Rick Jackson has focused on showing voters his relationship with Brian Kemp, while Jones has championed the president’s endorsement.

The winner will face Democrat Keisha Lance-Bottoms in the general election in November.
