Woman steals ambulance, leads Beaufort County deputies on chase
BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - A woman was arrested after stealing an ambulance and leading law enforcement on a pursuit.
According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began after the woman stole a private ambulance at the Hilton Head Medical Center around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2.
The pursuit lasted less than 15 minutes, with the woman being detained around 5:40 p.m. after deputies used spike strips to stop the vehicle on Indian Pine Lane.
Charges are pending, as the suspect was a mental health patient and is undergoing evaluation.
