WTOC Top Teacher: Mandi Paige

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Mandi Page teaches 3rd grade at Brooklet Elementary School.

She wants her students to shine by setting them up on the path to success.

“My motivation each day is to help these students get from point A to point B, help them really grow as a leader and a learner, and to show them that you matter, you are important, and we are going to get you where you need to be,” said Paige.

Page says she always knew that she wanted to be a teacher.

“Growing up I always remember telling my mama, I want to be a teacher when I grow up, I first started saying that when I was in the first grade,” said Paige.

Page has been teaching now for 17 years and wants her students to know they are one big family in school.

“One of the things we always talk about at the beginning of the year is that our class is a family,“ said Paige. ”If a child feels like a teacher does not support them, or doesn’t like them, they are not going to learn from that teacher. So I think that is absolutely crucial for the child to know that you love them, you support them, you have their back.”
