WTOC Top Teacher: Karen Campbell

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - She’s a math teacher who loves finding the right answer and she wants to help her students in any way she can.

Karen Campbell teaches 6th grade math at Rice Creek K-8 school in Chatham County.

“Just to see the kids learning, those a-ha moments, when they solve a math problem. Math is my Passion. I love math and I love to see the kids doing well,” said Campbell.

Campbell has been teaching for over 20 years, ands seeing her students learn.

“Just to see them implementing the different ways they can solve a math problem, it’s quite interesting,” said Campbell.

Campbell says teaching is more than just numbers, it’s about building relationships with her students.

“I want them to know that I care about them,” said Campbell. “I want them to know that I want them to be successful. Just the other day I got a note that says, ‘I love you Ms. Campbell, I never liked math until you started teaching me. Now I’m beginning to love math’, I feel really the students are starting to appreciate me’.
