Volunteers unite for ‘Great Savannah Community Cleanup’
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Residents, organizations, businesses and visitors came together Saturday to keep the Hostess City beautiful during the city’s ‘Great Savannah Community Cleanup’.
Volunteers picked up trash and waste throughout the city, helping beautify Savannah while protecting the environment. Among the participants were students from Rollins College in Florida, who traveled to Savannah as part of their school’s immersion program.
The Rollins students are spending their weekend partnering with local nonprofits. Their participation demonstrates the program’s mission of connecting students with communities across the country.
“It’s really important so that we can spread awareness to something that really needs to change, as well as keeping our environment cleaner,” said Camora Smith, a Rollins College student.
The Florida students will continue volunteering their time in the Savannah community throughout the weekend.
