Tattnall County brush fire 90% contained
TATTNALL COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - [Update as of 4/8/26 at 9:20 p.m.] A brush fire that ignited in the Elza District along Old River Road is now 90% contained, according to an update from the Reidsville Fire Department, citing information provided by the Georgia Forestry Commission.
Fire crews made significant progress throughout the day, successfully establishing containment lines around the majority of the blaze. Officials reported that crews will return to the scene at dawn Thursday to complete mop-up operations and ensure that all containment lines are secure, reducing the risk of flare-ups.
Authorities confirmed that no residential properties were damaged.
In a statement, officials expressed their gratitude to the numerous fire units that contributed resources and manpower, as well as to the Georgia Department of Corrections for its support during the response efforts.
