SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The case against George Humphreys has been ongoing in the courts since his arrest in January of 2025.
Humphreys is the man accused of killing 41-year-old Tony Ferguson at a house party in McIntosh County on December 15th, 2024.
34-year-old George “Big Head” Shawn Humphreys was arrested a month later, by the United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force in Jacksonville, Florida.
The night of Ferguson’s death, deputies were dispatched to a shooting on GA Highway 99 at Palmer Court.
When deputies arrived, they found hundreds of people in the area. You can find our initial coverage here.
Deputies were able to locate Ferguson with gunshot wounds. He was taken to Southeast Georgia Medical Center in Brunswick, where he succumbed to his injuries.
At the time, the sheriff’s office sent us the following statement:
“This tragic loss of life should have been avoided. There is no need for an argument to escalate into someone being shot. Our Sheriff’s Office is pleading with the public to come together and bring justice to the family of Mr. Ferguson. This unnecessary violence should not be accepted by the citizens of McIntosh County.”
