Station Tybee Coast Guard rescues stranded boat off Konrad’s Cut
TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - A boat left high and dry during low tide became stranded again at sea after a steering failure, leading to an early-morning Coast Guard rescue.
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Station Tybee said in a Facebook post that early Tuesday morning they were notified of a boat that was left high and dry on the beach of Konrad’s Cut.
The Coast Guard says once the tide came in and the boat refloated, it suffered a steering failure and was unable to navigate.
The five-member Station Tybee crew arrived and was able to tow the vessel to safety.

USCG Station Tybee is using the incident to remind boaters of the importance of preparedness, and share the following safety tips:
- Keep a watch on tides and ocean conditions.
- Always carry safety equipment.
- Be extra cautious when boating at night.
