Shots fired between vehicles in Hampton County, search for suspect(s) underway
HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Hampton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting incident involving two cars near Fox Trail Road in Cummings Friday.
According to witness statements, individuals in both vehicles exchanged gunfire.
One vehicle and one person were struck during the incident. The injured individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
The second vehicle ran from the scene before deputies arrived on scene and remains at large.
Investigators are working to identify and locate the suspect(s) involved.
Deputies have confirmed that a young child was present in one of the vehicles during the shootout between vehicles.
The child was reported safe and uninjured.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
