Shooting victim in Northside Park flown to Savannah for treatment; convicted felon arrested

BAXLEY, Ga. (WTOC) - A man was flown to Savannah for medical treatment after a shooting at Northside Park in Appling County, according to the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 11:20 a.m. on August 7 deputies were dispatched to a shots fired call at Northside Park.

Investigation revealed 35-year-old Sammie Adams was shot by 23-year-old Montavious LaJames Wilborn, the Sheriff’s Office says.

Wilborn fled the scene after the shooting and was arrested later that afternoon by members of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.

Adams was flown to Savannah for medical treatment.

Montavious Wilborn is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, with additional criminal charges pending.

The investigation is still ongoing.
