Savannah murder suspect indicted on charges for Tatem St. fatal shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - This week, one of the suspects charged in connection with a fatal shooting this spring has been indicted.

30-year-old Nyquan Small was arrested after turning himself in on July 22nd.

The indictment from the grand jury reveals Small was indicted on charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and tampering with evidence.

The grand jury says Small, with ‘malice aforethought caused the death of 22-year-old Rasheen Adkins by shooting him.’

His tampering with evidence charge references Small ‘knowingly concealing a firearm, which he knew to be evidence.’

The Savannah Police Department says this shooting happened in the 800 block of Tatem Street on April 5th, 2025, around 10:30-10:40 p.m. that night.

When they got to the scene, officers found 22-year-old Rasheen Adkins on the scene suffering from a gunshot wound. Adkins died as a result of his injuries overnight.

Other individuals are charged in relation to this case.

Andrew Leroy Barnwell is facing charges of tampering with evidence, and Shantea Bright is charged with 2 counts of tampering with evidence.

Harry Emanuel Bright is also charged with tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. Small is the only one facing murder charges from that night.

The trial for this case is set to begin in February.
