SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Many exciting programs are going on at Savannah State University’s College of Education. This week, Associate Dean, Dr. Kisha Cunningham-Aites joined Dawn Baker for Welcome to our Community to share more details.

She tells us the college offers a variety of degrees designed to prepare students for teaching careers.

These include the Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) for middle grades (grades 4-8), biology education (grades 6-12), mathematics education (grades 6-12), and engineering technology (grades P-12), as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Music Education (grades P-12).

Additionally, the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIDS) program allows students to explore broad subject areas with flexible concentrations in interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, or educational studies.

Dr. Aites says they’re also teaching the science of reading through their literacy lab.
