SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Juneteenth celebration took place Saturday highlighting young women competing in this year’s Miss Savannah Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant.

The women competed in categories like evening wear, talent, and interview.

Emphasizing honoring the cultural and historical significance of the holiday.

Contestants showcase the knowledge, leadership, public speaking, community service, and personal growth they have developed during the Miss Savannah Juneteenth Scholarship Program.

“This specific pageant to me means liberation, it means opening doors, it means being able to have my feet be fruitful to just plant seeds in any room I go into. This pageant is just such an elightment to the Savannah community since there’s been nothing like it. To be able to be the second Miss Juneteenth is such a great opportunity, so the fact that we get to do that for other young ladies is just really amazing,” said Ytinu McDonald, 2025 Miss Savannah Juneteenth.

The program also offers comprehensive training experience for future academic and professional pursuits.
