Savannah Riverwalk glows at lighted boat parade
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -More than 30 boats participated in Savannah’s holiday boat parade this weekend, marking the start of the city’s Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions.
The Georgia Queen led the parade route, which looped twice from Eastern Wharf to the Talmadge Bridge and back, passing Plant Riverside and River Street.
Eastern Wharf served as parade headquarters with a tree lighting ceremony, Santa, food trucks and live entertainment. Judges selected winners along the extended Riverwalk.
“I work like not too far away from here and I figured why not bring the kids out? It’s a great night, last thing to do before they go back to school,” said Jennifer Singh, a Savannah resident. “Honestly the weather is great, it’s got a great vibe to it, everyone is waiting. We’re eager to watch the parade, we’ve actually lived here for 9 years and it’s our first time coming down here to watch the parade.”
The event drew a massive turnout this year.
