Savannah Convention Center celebrates 25th anniversary
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Convention Center Board of Directors hosted their annual Holiday Luncheon this afternoon, celebrating the impact the center has had on the Hostess City for 25 years.
The event featured a red carpet with elected officials and special guests, as well as a viewing of the 25th Anniversary Documentary.

The Convention Center introduced a $276 million expansion that was completed earlier this year in February, and construction is currently underway for the $398 million Signia by Hilton Hotel. Senior VP of the Convention Center, Kelvin Moore, explains that these improvements are not the finish line, but a launch point for the next 25 years.
“Business is just booming. From the minute we opened our expansion doors, we have had new booking after new booking. 2026 is going to be a record year in terms of activity and financial performance,” says Moore.

Mark Smith, Chairman of Savannah Convention Center Authority, stressed that the community is to thank for the success of the Center over the years.
“Every Municipality in Chatham County collected Hotel-Motel Tax, which is contributed to the Convention Center, and is financial support for our operation. So we want to invite every elected official in the county to come and let us say thank you for your support,” says Smith.
The Headquarter Hotel is expected to open it’s doors in July of 2028, and is anticipated to double to revenue of the Convention Center.
