SC Attorney General faces state Senate oversight committee

by Michael Owens, Patrick Phillips

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS/WCSC) - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson’s office was the center of a state committee hearing on Wednesday.

The Senate Legislative Oversight Committee held a review of the attorney general’s office.

Wilson, who’s running for governor in 2026, said Tuesday that every agency in the state goes through oversight every seven years and that this happens to be his office’s year. He also said he testified earlier this year as part of the review process.

US Rep. Nancy Mace, one of Wilson’s Republican primary opponents, has claimed Wilson’s office is under investigation and that the hearing was called to look into allegations against him.

Mace attended Wednesday’s hearing, sitting behind Wilson during proceedings.m

The committee’s agenda does not state any further information other than the hearing for the attorney general’s office.
