Rincon Police release body cam footage in ‘use of force’ incident

RINCON, Ga. (WTOC) - Rincon Police released one of their officer’s body camera footage showing a different angle of an exchange between Rincon Police Officer Christopher Buckner and a shoplifting suspect at the Walmart over the weekend.

Rincon Police say the suspect pulled away from the officer when being handcuffed and a struggle began.

The new body camera footage shows the moments leading up to the exchange that was caught on bystanders camera.

The officers issue verbal commands asking the man to go to his patrol car, the man turns away from the officer and lunged back pushing the officer.

According to the police report and the 10 minutes of body cam footage , no other struggle happened once the man was in handcuffs.

The suspect, James Williams was booked into the Effingham County Jail. Officer Buckner returned to duty Wednesday.
