Right lane closures on U.S. 280 happening overnight for sign installations on I-16

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will close portions of U.S. 280 to install highway signs along I-16 as part of a widening project.

“The US 280 Widening project is part of the larger US 280, I-16 Frontage, and Old Cuyler Road Interchange Improvement projects that will provide more efficient access to new developments in Bryan County,” GDOT wrote in a press release.

Nighttime Closures:

  • Wednesday, August 20, through Thursday, August 21
    • 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
    • A right-lane closure will be in effect at the following location:
    • I-16 eastbound between milepost (MP) 140 and exit 143
  • Thursday, August 21, through Friday, August 22
    • 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
    • A right-lane closure will be in effect at the following location:
    • I-16 westbound between MP 146 and exit 143

They continued to say the improvement projects include roadway widening, construction of roundabouts, a new frontage road along I-16, and a new location interchange on I-16.

GDOT said officers will be on-site to assist, and drivers should expect delays for this work.
