Report: Man arrested after allegedly spitting on SC National Guard troops in DC
WASHINGTON (WIS) - A man was arrested after allegedly spitting on two members of the South Carolina National Guard stationed in Washington, D.C.
CNN reports the man, licensed Maryland attorney Scott Pichon, allegedly rode up to two National Guard troops at Union Station on Aug. 22 and “made a noise like he was coughing up mucus.”
Pichon then allegedly spat “a mixture of saliva and mucus” on the two soldiers. It landed on one soldier’s face and the other’s neck, per court documents.
He was arrested Tuesday evening by a deputy US marshal and charged with felony assault.
The arrest sparked a reaction on social media from multiple South Carolina state and federal lawmakers, including Sen. Lindsey Graham, Rep. Nancy Mace, Rep. Ralph Norman, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson and state Rep. Micah Caskey.
