Recruit shot in the foot during training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot
PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. (WTOC) - A recruit assigned to Recruit Training Regiment was injured Wednesday during a scheduled marksmanship training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island.
The recruit was shot in the foot while training on the range.
Depot emergency crews responded immediately, and the recruit was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
The Depot says an investigation into the incident is underway and that no personal information will be released until the proper next of kin notification is complete.
The Depot says that the safety and well-being of their recruits and personnel remain their top priority.
