PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WTOC) - One step closer for a soon to be - big entertainment spot is becoming a reality.

Tuesday, city leaders in Port Wentworth gathered as crews topped off the Amphitheater and Ice Cove at Anchor Park.

The massive undertaking has been in the works for over two years now. And Tuesday the city of Port Wentworth celebrated the final beam being put in place.

“Savannah is really becoming a hub for music and a cultural thing and we’re really really exciting to be a part of that,” said Steve Davis, city manager.

The project celebrated its ground breaking in August of 2024. Since then the city says they have made great progress.

Anchor Park will not only house the Savannah Ghost Pirates training facility and 5,200 seat covered amphitheater, but it will also be home to a restaurant, retail shop, multi-use fields and walking trail.

The city says they have high hopes for the kind of entertainment and sporting events that this project will attract once finished.

“It’s going to be a really really great facility and there will be something for everyone including a farmers market,” said Davis.

They still have quite a bit of construction to do but the city of Port Wentworth is excited to welcome the new space.

The first part of Anchor Park should be completed in August of 2026.
