Police chase with driver reaching speeds over 120 mph ends in arrest, says Candler Co. Sheriff’s Office
CANDLER COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A high-speed chase ended in the driver’s arrest on several charges, including felony fleeing and attempting to elude.
The Candler County Sheriff’s Office said this all began earlier Sunday when a deputy patrolling Highway 46 East caught a vehicle going over 100 miles per hour.
According to law enforcement, when the deputy tried to stop the car they said the driver fled while reaching speeds over 120 miles per hour across multiple dirt and paved county roads.
The chase continued into Bulloch County and into the City of Register, “passing near a church as services were ending. We are grateful no one was harmed.”
At this point of the chase, Georgia State Patrol and the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office were requested for help.
A Candler County deputy was able to bring the chase to an end in Register, where law enforcement says the driver was arrested and now faces several charges.
“Our stance is clear: if you run, we will pursue you and bring you into custody. Our deputies, Georgia State Patrol, and sheriffs’ offices across the state share this mindset. Public safety will always remain our top priority,” wrote the Candler County Sheriff’s Office in a social media post.
They also shared a picture of K9 Kazi who they say was in the middle of it all.
“As always, Kazi was in charge and wasn’t about to let this suspect get away,” wrote the sheriff’s office.
