New fire truck unveiled at Hyundai Megasite in Bryan County

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A new fire truck is now operational at the Hyundai Megasite in Bryan County, promising to significantly reduce emergency response times at the facility that employs thousands of workers.

The engine was unveiled on Friday in a ceremony marking an important milestone in the company’s commitment to workplace safety and community protection.

Always Ready to Respond

The new fire engine will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the site in Ellabelle.

Staffed with a minimum of four personnel at all times, the truck is equipped to respond rapidly to fires and medical emergencies on the site.

A fire investigator and other staff members will also be available.

The engine was welcomed into service through a traditional Wet Down Ceremony—a symbolic ritual in the firefighting community that represents brotherhood and good luck as the new vehicle is brought into operational status.

A Tool for Success

According to Glenn Williams of Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, the new truck represents an important investment in safety:

“This is just one more tool in the toolbox to make us better,” Williams said.

While Hyundai will continue to collaborate with Bryan County emergency services on emergency calls, the presence of an on-site crew changes the response dynamic.

Now, when an incident occurs, trained personnel can arrive immediately to assess the situation—whether it involves a medical emergency or someone in distress—before additional departments are called in.

“We can arrive on scene and do a very rapid assessment of maybe a patient or someone who’s called for help that’s not feeling well all the way up to an injury,” Williams said.

The arrangement also has broader community benefits.

By allowing Hyundai to manage initial emergency response at its facility, the solution protects county citizens outside the property gates.

Bryan County emergency services remain available as the primary responder for the broader community, rather than dedicating resources solely to the megasite.

As Williams noted, “We also look at protecting the citizens outside the fence. We leave that emergency response that Bryan County provides open to be their first responder, as opposed to having to dedicate resources to our site.”

Future Growth

The new fire truck is already in service at the megasite in Ellabelle. Company officials indicate that if the facility continues to grow and operational needs increase, an additional fire engine could be added to the fleet in the future.
