Man shot in the foot in Tuesday night Estill shooting
ESTILL, SC. (WTOC) - One man was taken to a local medical facility with a gunshot wound to his foot after a shooting incident Tuesday night.
The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a shooting near the Bo Bops Gas Station and the Bull Durham in Estill. The Estill Police Department said they responded to reports of gunfire right before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
Officers said they determined an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles occurred at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Nixville Road.
The victim was found at a home just outside of the town limits with a gunshot wound to his foot, he was later taken to a medical center for treatment.
“The Estill Police Department has zero tolerance for reckless acts of violence that endanger lives in our community. These incidents are not only illegal – they are extremely dangerous and potentially deadly for those involved and for innocent bystanders. Firing weapons from moving vehicles turns our streets into battlegrounds, and we will not allow that in Estill. Let me be clear: this kind of behavior will be met with the full force of the law. We are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness, and we will leave no stone unturned in identifying, arresting, and prosecuting anyone involved," said Chief of Police, Chauncey Solomon in a statement.
Estill Police say they impounded a vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting and collected evidence at the scene.
The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office said this case is under active investigation.
