Lowcountry singer who starred on ‘The Voice’ dies at 24
ST. GEORGE, S.C. (WBTV) - A Lowcountry native who appeared on the popular show “The Voice” has died.
Dylan Carter - who starred in the show’s Season 24 back in 2023 - died in a car crash, Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr. posted.

The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately clear.
A nonprofit in Santee, which Carter co-founded, also confirmed his death.
“With heavy hearts we share the passing of Dylan Carter, co-founder of The Local Voice, talented musician, and someone who meant so much to our community,” the nonprofit wrote on Facebook.
“Dylan was the heart of what we do,” the post continued. “He believed every voice matters and lived that every day. Through his music, his kindness, and his smile, he brought people together and made everyone feel seen.”
A native of the South Carolina Lowcountry, Carter was also a realtor and owned a campground, according to his website.
On “The Voice,” Carter was chosen by country legend Reba McEntire and advanced to the season’s 12th episode, where he was eliminated in a battle. During his audition, all four judges turned and wanted him on their team.
On Monday, Reba McEntire called Carter “a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to The Voice.”

He has music on both Spotify and Apple Music, and continued to sing after “The Voice.”
Carter was supposed to perform on Monday, April 27, as the town of Moncks Corner wrapped up a downtown music series.
Carter was reportedly only 24 years old.
