Longtime WTOC friend dies after battle with cancer
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Bloomingdale resident who many of us at WTOC - and some of you called friend - has lost her battle with cancer.
Anne Classens Horn was passionate about keeping many of our counties in the know - through her Facebook page. She was a loving and caring neighbor and advocate that grew beyond Chatham County, so she started “Accidents & Fires & Road Closures for Chatham County & Surrounding Areas.”
For more than twenty years, she would often call the WTOC newsroom and made sure we were in the know.
One of her best days was when she was on Price Is Right!
You may have even seen Miss Anne, as she was affectionately called, in many parades like the St Patrick’s Day parades dressed as Tweety Bird!
She leaves behind her children, and many of her neighborhood children.
Thoughts from Team WTOC
“I’ve only been here for a year and most of my focus has been on the traffic patterns in the morning, working on The News at Daybreak to get people’s day started on the roadways. Her ability, and the group as a whole, to keep up was amazing to watch. She was aware at all hours, listening to what’s happening on the scanners, and wanting to help prepare people for their day like we do. Her Facebook page is unlike any. I’ve worked in Topeka and Kansas City, and no one has stayed on top of things like her. WTOC thanks her for her service in this community. I hope that others in this group feel committed to that same mission -- help others.”
Joe Hennessy, WTOC Traffic Anchor
Ms. Anne has been there for me MANY of weekends while in the newsroom helping to coordinate getting our WTOC folks (and sometimes myself) out to specific situations.
