Jasper Co. Sheriff’s Office makes arrest in drug trafficking investigation
JASPER COUNTY, Sc. (WTOC) - The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) has arrested Jevante Barnes, also known as “Varney,” during an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
Barnes was found on Tillman Road in Ridgeland during a traffic stop that was conducted by NET detectives. During the stop, about 30 grams of cocaine, $1,928 and a 2011 Ford F-150 were confiscated.
On Nov. 5, NET detectives executed a search warrant in the Kelmont Drive area of Ridgeland at Barnes’ home. Detectives seized a PSA AK-47 rifle, a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun, ammunition, and drug paraphemalia, including digital scales.
Barnes has been charged with trafficking in cocaine and was incarcerated at the Jasper County Detention Center.
