Holiday tree lightings, festivals and parades in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - As communities across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry begin to celebrate the holiday season, here’s a list of local events.

We will continue to update the events below as more are announced.

SAVANNAH

Nov. 20 through Dec. 31 - Savannah Christmas Market at Plant Riverside District and Festival of Trees. Free and open to the public.

Thur. Nov. 20 - Telfair Pavilion Tree Lighting event at Candler Hospital, 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Fri. Nov. 28 - Plant Riverside District: Gingerbread House Unveiling, 4 p.m. Christmas Lighting Ceremony, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Fri. Nov. 28 - Savannah Holiday Tree Lighting, 5 p.m. on the corner of Broughton & Bull Streets

Sat. Nov. 29 - Holiday Kickoff at Eastern Wharf, 5-9 p.m. featuring a visit from Santa

Sat. Nov. 29 - 24th Annual Savannah Lighted Boat Parade begins at Eastern Wharf in Savannah at 7 p.m.

Fri. Dec. 12 & Sat. Dec. 13 - Savannah Waterfront’s Christmas on the River Dance and Musical performances at Plant Riverside District. Performances are 5-7:30 p.m. on Friday and 12-4:30 p.m. on Saturday

Sat. Dec. 13 - Savannah’s 33rd Annual Lighted Christmas Parade begins at Plant Riverside District at 5:30 p.m.

Sun. Dec. 14 - Chanukah at Forsyth, 3 p.m.

Wed. Dec 31 - New Year’s Eve Midnight Fireworks Show over the Savannah River

ALMA:

Sat. Dec. 6 - Hometown Christmas Festival in Goldwasser Park from 2-8 p.m. with Santa and Mrs. Claus at 6:30 p.m., a Live Nativity at 7 p.m. and Storytime with the Elves at 7:30 p.m. The lighting of the courthouse tree will take place at 6 p.m.

Sat. Dec. 6 - Alma-Bacon Christmas Parade at 4 p.m. on Main Street.

BAXLEY:

Wed. Dec. 3 - Christmas in the Park, 6 p.m. in Baxley Water Works Park features Christmas carols, the Christmas story, and lighting of the City and County Christmas Trees.

Sat. Dec. 13 - “Hometown Christmas” Parade beginning at 5:30 p.m. Winter Wonderland behind Baxley City Hall will include festive fun following the parade until 9 p.m.

BEAUFORT:

Fri. Dec. 5 - Night on the Town from 6-9 p.m. with the tree lighting at 8 p.m.

Sat. Dec. 6 - Lighted Boat Parade at 5:30 p.m. This annual event takes place along Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park.

Sun. Dec. 7 - Beaufort Christmas Parade at 3 p.m. Part of the parade route is different due to the ongoing construction at Bay and Charles Street. It will be re-routed onto Craven Street before returning to Bay Street at Newcastle Street.

BLUFFTON:

Fri. Dec. 5 - Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Martin Family Park at 5:30 p.m. followed by the movie “Arthur Saves Christmas” at 6:30 p.m.

Sat. Dec. 6 - 54th annual Bluffton Christmas Parade, 10 a.m. through Bluffton’s Historic District.

BLOOMINGDALE:

Sat. Dec. 6 - Bloomingdale Christmas Parade at 10 a.m. followed by the Christmas Market and Festival at W.C. Strozier Community Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. after the parade from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sat. Dec. 6 - Children’s Christmas Party and visit with Santa at the Bloomingdale Fire Department from 2-5 p.m.

BROOKLET:

Wed. Dec. 3 - Annual Brooklet Christmas Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. at the gazebo on Parker Ave.

PORT ROYAL:

Wed. Dec. 3 - Port Royal Tree Lighting, 6 p.m. next to Port Royal Elementary school

Sat. Dec. 13 - Christmas Golf Cart Parade, 6 p.m. at Helena Square, with an after party and awards at Shellring.

RICHMOND HILL:

Fri. Nov. 21 - Richmond Hill Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Market in J.F. Gregory Park from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Features holiday vendors, food trucks, live entertainment, trackless train rides and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Sat. Dec. 6 - 29th annual Richmond Hill Christmas Parade at 10 a.m. from Timber Trail Recreation to City Hall.

STATESBORO:

Fri. Dec. 5 - Christmas in the Boro celebrates “Christmas Around the World” from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Main Street. The Christmas Parade will begin on West Main Street and proceed across in front of the Bulloch County Courthouse, continuing to Railroad Street.
